About Sports
Sport is an organized, competitive, and skillful physical activity, governed by a set of rules or customs which requires commitment and fair play. Sport aids the underprivileged kids and youth to develop mentally, emotionally, physically and socially, thereby bringing about positive impact in their lives and their communities.
A number of things come together to make a sport but the most striking one is a ball. The ability to kick it, hit it and other advanced techniques require concentration and focus. The child's mental abilities are enhanced right from the beginning.
In sports, teamwork always comes to the fore. The key factors are the physical capabilities and skills of the competitor when determining the outcome (winning or losing). Children have to learn how to play with other kids from different communities, backgrounds, schools and so on. They are able to learn how to interact, work and share ideas with people, which can be applied in other parts of their lives as they grow and mature.
Sports improve the child's ability to learn and comprehend. Recent studies have reflected on the fact that sports enhance the child's attendance and performance in school. The child also gains the ability to learn social and life skills such as self discipline, communication, self care and control, leadership and decision making.
When children are involved in sports, they are less likely to face psychological problems like depression, boredom, anxiety, fear and uncertainties since they are always active and this creates a sense of normality in the child's physical being. They are not prone to health conditions such as heart failure, hypertension and other related health issues due to their constant participation in sports.
Studies have again shown that sport is one of the unique ways in generating peace and reconciliation as well as combating social issues such as crime, war and conflict. There is this adage that a sound mind is a healthy body and the children need a peaceful society to have that sound mind. Therefore Sports create a favorable environment for the children to grow into responsible adults.
It can again be a means of creating revenues and generating employment as they grow and pursue it as a career. Most kids involved in sports can be used as ambassadors in fighting economical and social issues in their communities along side serve as role models for other children.
Accurate records are kept and updated for most sports at the highest levels, while failures and accomplishments are widely announced in sport news. Sports are most often played just for fun or for the simple fact that people need exercise to stay in good physical condition. However, professional sport is a major source of entertainment.
